Here is what Triton’s foster parents have to say of him.

“Triton has been great with the other dogs.  One of our daughters brought over her golden retriever this past week end and he did great with him. He weights 83 pounds and is a love.  He is very mellow and would require some walks for exercise to keep him healthy.  I’m not sure he thinks he would need to exercise but enjoys the walks.  He follows us everywhere.  He is very good in the house and has not had any accidents. He sleeps on one of the dog beds and has not done anything at night. He would be perfect for a retired couple who wants a very loving dog, mellow and loves to travel.  He has been great with the grand kids as well, they are 3 and 4.  I think he would do well if he were left for the day but then be with his humans at night.  Loves being right there with you.  He does not jump up on people and he has good manners. He is an ideal dog.”

Health update:

Maggie is coughing a lot these days, and not eating much.  Her foster mom makes sure that at a minimum the pain medication goes down even if Maggie can’t take in much else at that meal.  Because her foster mom telecommutes for work, Maggie has company, and we’re grateful that she’s not alone.

Leonard sits patiently while waiting for his treat!  With him are Patch and Triton.

Ahhhhh, this is relaxing!

They have such nice comfy dog beds here, and I get to pick which one I want, plus there’s the couch!  I’ve learned to leave the caged parrot alone, and I’m getting along great with the other dogs.  My foster mom had this to say about me:

“Leonard is a dear.  He is a very well mannered dog.  Very polite and good with other dogs.  Leonard is very good at feeding time.  Sits and waits for his bowl to be put down.  I can take food from him and he is good with me.  He runs like a young dog but has not been real active more laid back and loves to be right with you.  The other thing that is great about him is that he is quiet.  Hardly barks at all.  In fact I’ve only heard him once and that was when he was happy about us coming home.  He is great in the house and is respectful of things.

He sits nicely when being fed a treat (does this automatically) and is very gentle.  He has been taught some manners.  Most of all he loves to be petted and loved.  He is prey driven but I have not noticed him doing the game of “chasing the ground squirrels” which is Patch’s favorite game.  He is not sure about the water, acts like he never has been swimming.  Over all he is a great dog and anyone would be lucky to get him.”

This is Leonard’s video from the shelter.  You can see what a friendly boy he is.  They had estimated him to be about 7 years old, our vet estimated about 6.  He was losing weight in the shelter, and after lots of tests they could not find a medical reason for the weight loss and determined that it was most likely due to shelter stress.   They asked us to help him before he got even thinner.

He came into our rescue program (so don’t call the number at the end of the video, he’s not there anymore!), and he really loves being in his foster home.  He’s getting three meals a day right now to put some weight back on him, and he really chows down!  The  home environment must be what he needed, and now he’s looking forward to meeting his forever family.  Maybe that’s you!?!

Meet Leonard, a handsome houndy boy!  His coloration, especially around his muzzle, makes him look older than he is.  The vet estimates him to be about 6.
